RECENT EVENTS Annual
Babysitting at New Morning School As always, this well-attended favorite activity brought teens and young children together
for hours of fun while parents had a breather. Thanks to New Morning School and Hannaford on Jenkins Road for their continued
support of this event! New Horizons (Food Pantry) volunteer day - Saturday, November 19, 2011 our CBYers helped
with packing boxes, unloading, loading, etc. Their efforts were appreciated by all! Second Annual Camp
Allen Cleanup Saturday, October 22 Sponsored by Centrix Bank! Ice cream and other refreshments served at the Cultural Series Tuesdays in July and August
2011This annual series of events brought smiles to CBYers and attendees alike as refreshments and fun were provided
by teens. Even
though the weather didn't always cooperate CBY teens took it in stride and made it work. Congratulations to all! Dodgebal
Tournament August
2, 2011!! CBY teens hosted an open Dodgeball tournament, held in conjunction with the Bedford Parks and Recreation Department's
National Night Out. Great fun was had by all despite a little rain activity.
Bedford Rotary
Road Race water station Saturday, May 21, 2011 CBY students and parents and hosted a water station for appreciative
runners in the 12K race. CBY Teens provided workshops at Stand By Me CBY teens
once again provided 3 workshops at Stand By Me May 20, 2011. Seventh grade students and their parents engaged in interactive, fast-paced sessions that brought assets alive
and introduced attendees to this unique organization. If you have a story to tell about your blue wristband please share it
through our email - it could end up on our website (anonymously)!
CBY and ROSS Club Hosted Lions' Den Talent Showcase This was a fun filled night of Lurgio Talent! Saturday, May 7, 2011
CBY held a fabulous showcase of 7th and 8th grade students and their talents in the Bedford High School Theatre. Mr.
Joyce added to the festivities by co-hosting this exciting event. Everyone who attended was thoroughly entertained! 12th Annual Holiday Babysitting Sunday, December 5 and Saturday, December 11, 2010 Once again, this was a wildly popular event for the CBY teens, the children being watched and their
parents.
Many thanks
to New Morning School for donating the use of their facility every year for 11 years !!! Also, thanks to Hannaford on Jenkins Road in Bedford for donating some
supplies for Gingerbread House making! This is the leading conference for people who help kids succeed in schools, families and communities.
Our teens taught an international audience how their model of youth-led collaboration and volunteerism works in the Bedford
community. Adults and youth who attended the workshop
engaged in a fast-paced interactive session and gave overwhelmingly positive feedback. Our teens also attended many workshops to expand their knowledge and bring back strategies that work
in other communities!
Keep Your Family Safe - Have you Checked Your Medicine Cabinet
Lately? Wednesday, November 10, 2010 Helen Pervanas, PharmD, provided a highly informational interactive
session regarding safety and environmental concerns associated with prescription and over the counter medicines. This timely
topic also covered proper disposal of unwanted medications and the importance of removing them from the home. CBY

CBY teams with Centrix Bank to clean up Camp Allen! Monday, Oct. 11, 2010 on their day off, CBY volunteers cleaned up for the fall closing
of Camp Allen in Bedford. Centrix Bank sponsored the event and CBY provided the organization and muscle to help our neighbor
with moving equipment, raking and other fall cleanup! Pictures here. Olde
Towne Day, Saturday, September 11, 2010 CBY hosted its ever-popular youth booth
with spin art & tattoos and the famous dodge ball extravaganza! In addition this year, CBY members assisted the Craftworkers'
Guild with their pinwheel-making activity.

PAST EVENTS Teen Munch, Speaker and Raffle Night Saturday, June 5, 2010
An evening of fun co-sponsored by
BHS National Honor Society included dinner and, by
popular demand, Peter DiGiulio speaking on "Why Say No!" with terrific enthusiasm. Raffles were held for a gift
card and for NHS baskets with various themes, proceeds benefiting Holly's Hope toward finding a cure for Friedreich's
Ataxia.
Stand By Me Four CBY teens presented 3 sessions at Stand By Me on Friday, June 4, 2010. What an exciting opportunity to speak with 7th grade students and parents about the program
and benefits of CBY and asset development! Our whole teen group worked together over several months to develop stimulating,
interactive sessions that were well received by the audiences. One of the activities included Valued Asset Builder wristbands
that are being distributed by the attendees to people who have made a difference in their lives. If you have a story to

CBY students, parents
and siblings hosted a water station for thirsty runners in the 12K race. An Interview with Local Experts: “Straightforward Strategies to Keep Teens Safe, Resilient and Substance Free” Sponsored by CBY, this May 5, 2010 event was facilitated by Doug Pearson and aired on BCTV.
(You can watch here any time.) Panelists included health care professionals, law enforcement, school and counseling community members
who discussed the realities of teens and substances, and strategies for helping our teens navigate adolescence safely.
Movie night was held Friday, April 9th, 2010 at Bedford High School
Theater. This ever-popular co-sponsored by CBY and BHS SADD featured the animated
film
UP! The capable
teens organized and executed yet another successful event with
proceeds benefiting a local charity.
February 18, 2009 Renowned expert Michael Nerney spoke on "The Adolescent Brain and High Risk Behavior" at the Bedford High School Theater to an audience of over 100. Co-sponsored by CBY and SADD, this was a highly educational
event that helped adults understand the workings of the adolescent brain and strategies to keep our teens safe.

Olde Towne Day Booth!!! SATURDAY, September 19, 2009
Dodgeball and a table with tattoos and spin art were wildly popular
this year as in years past. We had 34 CBY teens and 5 adults helping throughout the day and many, many smiling faces. Thanks
to all who helped make this another successful event! Ice cream scooping at the Recreation Department outdoor concert series(6 evenings) July
14th- Aug 18th 2009 Ice cream, pizza, popcorn, beverages and candy were served
by CBY students before and during the concerts this summer. Students set up, popped delicious batches of popcorn, scooped
many sundaes and applied countless toppings to hungry attendees, then cleaned up of course! Funds raised help with programs
and activities throughout the year. Bedford Rotary

have been helping with this event for many years! X-treme Stunt Night Friday, May 8, 2009 was an amazing
evening! Dinner, World Champion Stunt Bike Rider Chris Poulos with his skills and life lessons, and karaoke with dancing and
dessert were enjoyed by a group of all ages! There was even a raffle for an iPod Touch. The CBY teens planned and executed
a flawless event that not only provided a full evening of entertainment, but also raised funds for Children's Hospital.

the most popular event CBY hosts during the year. Many thanks to New
Morning School for donating the use of their facility every year!
Thanks also to Hannaford
on Colby Court for sponsoring the gingerbread houses! Once again the CBY students hosted an amazing event where young children could come
and play with the teens for the day while their parents attended to shopping and other necessary tasks. A wonderful time was
had by all while the CBYers supervised crafts, stories, games, outside play, snacks, lunch, and general good fun. Volunteer
parents were on hand as always, but the CBY teens planned and executed the event flawlessly. Congratulations! Unfortunately
the ice storm canceled the following Saturday's babysitting, but hopefully next year we will again host two days of holiday
season fun! Movie Night: "Madagascar 2" Friday, April 10, 2009 CBY students planned
and hosted a movie night for community members on a spring evening at the Bedford High School. A wide variety of people took
advantage of seeing "Madagascar 2" in the comfortable theater. 17 CBY students were on hand to make sure everything
ran smoothly. As always, parent volunteers were on hand and CBY alumni returned to join in the fun and lend the benefit of
their experience. Holiday Craft Fair Saturday, November 22, 2008
CBY volunteers assisted at the craft fair sponsored by the Bedford Recreation Department in the McKelvie School Cafeteria.
They sold snacks and took care of children while parents shopped.

CBY volunteers assisted the Bedford PTG with the annual Ski and Skate Sale in different capacities. Volunteers helped
raise money for the Bedford Schools!

CBY volunteers assisted the Bedford Parks & Recreation Department annual event for young children. They helped
with various activities and the famous candy hunt. A great time was had by all!

which ran very smoothly and gave many children (and adults) an opportunity to have fun!
